GUNNISON, Colo. – The Angelo State women's basketball program closed its Colorado road swing with a 65-49 loss to Western Colorado on Monday night at Paul Wright Gym.
The Rambelles dropped to 1-2 record after falling behind early. ASU struggled from the field in the first half, shooting just 28.6 percent, while the Mountaineers hit better than 55 percent to build a 17-point halftime lead. The Rambelles clawed back in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to one before WCU responded with a 13-0 run to pull away for good.
Majik Esquivel led ASU in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 11 points, three steals, two rebounds and an assist.
Taylor Grona and
Keniah Williams added 10 points apiece. Williams also notched her first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds and three blocks, while Grona grabbed three boards and handed out one assist.
Briley Merket and
Landry Morrow each scored seven points and combined for six rebounds.
The Rambelles return home to open its 2025-26 schedule on Saturday, Nov. 22, hosting Fort Lewis at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
