Rambelles Drop Home Opener to Skyhawks

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball program fell just short to Fort Lewis by a final score of 62-61 in their home opener at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

The Rambelles (1–3) led by as many as 12 in the first half, shooting better than 50 percent from the field during the opening surge. But the offense cooled, and ASU finished at 37 percent overall, including 18.2 percent from 3-point range and 61.3 percent at the foul line. Turnovers proved costly as the Rambelles committed 32, 23 of them coming on Fort Lewis steals that turned into 23 Skyhawk points.

Fort Lewis shot 33.8 percent from the floor, 20.8 percent from beyond the arc and 47.8 percent at the line.

Addy Burns paced ASU with 14 points and eight rebounds, adding an assist and a steal. Landry Morrow provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points in 16 minutes while going 7 of 8 at the free-throw line and grabbing three boards. Taylor Grona added 10 points and led the Rambelles with five steals and three assists.

Keniah Williams finished with eight points, four rebounds and six blocks.

Angelo State returns to action Sunday, Nov. 30, on the road at Pittsburgh State. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
