RV Rams Cruise to 73-51 Win to Close Weekend

Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team closed its time at the West Texas A&M Thanksgiving Classic with another win, defeating Justice 73-51 inside the First United Bank Center on the campus of West Texas A&M.

With a back-and-forth opening eight minutes of action, the Rams turned a one-point lead into an 18-point halftime lead with a 26-8 run over the final 12:07 of the opening half.

Quadir Pettaway led all players with a career-high 21 points in 26 minutes of action off the bench. The junior guard shot 8-for-11 from the field and 5-for-7 from three-point range; the Virginian made five of the Rams' eight three-point attempts, also a career-best.

Pettaway also led the Rams with three steals as the Rams forced the Lions into 16 turnovers.

For the game, the Rams held the Lions to 40.7 percent shooting from the field and 20 percent shooting from deep.

Jaqai Murray recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds, which is also his second double-double in the past three games.

Kailon Nicholls and Ja'Queze Kirby scored nine points each while grabbing five and six rebounds, respectively.

Jordan Crawford scored six points and assisted six times, leading the Rams, who assisted on 17 of their 25 made field goals.

The Rams are 8-1 on the season, and open Lone Star Conference play next week with road trips to Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian.
