RV Belles Topple League-Leading Lady Chaps

Lubbock, Texas – The Angelo State volleyball team, facing one of its toughest tests of the conference schedule this afternoon against league-leading Lubbock Christian, aced the test with flying colors, handing the Lady Chaps their first sweep in conference play with a 25-23, 25-10, 25-20 decision inside the Rip Griffin Center.

The Belles' defense held the Lady Chaps' offense at bay as the hosts only hit .106, their third-lowest mark of the season and their lowest in an LSC match.

Conversely, the Belles hit .298 on the day, the best offensive output the Lady Chaps have allowed this season.

The Belles found a lot of success at the service line with six aces. LCU failed to record an ace in a single match for the first time since September 9th, 2022.

This is the second time this season the Belles have not conceded an ace, also doing so in their season-opening match against Arkansas-Monticello.

Madi Parrish and Julia Hopkins combined for 32 of the Belles' 47 kills.

Parrish had 17 kills with a .441 attack percentage and led the Belles with 15 digs.

Hopkins converted 15 kills on 35 swings.

Demi Carter recorded six kills and led the Belles with three blocks, while Cate Boldrick and Raelee Allen each had four kills and did not commit an error.

Gabi Ashcraft assisted 20 times and recorded 13 digs, and Madison Scrivner assisted 16 times off the bench. Ashcraft tallied half of the Belles' six aces.

Ireland Ferguson dug 14 Lady Chaps attacks.

The Belles improve to 19-7 overall and 13-2 in LSC play. They enter the final weekend of the regular season, controlling their own destiny, as wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena will see the Belles host the LSC Tournament on November 20-22.
