Rambelles Snap Five-Game Skid with Home Win Over Dustdevils

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Angelo State women's basketball team got back on track Monday afternoon, rolling past Texas A&M International 59-38 at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.

The win snapped a five-game skid for the Rambelles, who improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

Angelo State turned in its best shooting performance of the season, connecting on 41.9% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc while going a perfect 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. The Rambelles also took better care of the basketball, committing just 17 turnovers — their fewest since the Nov. 17 matchup against Western Colorado.

The Rambelles' defense set the tone throughout the contest, limiting the Dustdevils to 20.7% shooting from the floor, including just 15% from 3-point range. Angelo State forced 16 turnovers and converted those miscues into 20 points.

Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 16 points and added five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Landry Morrow followed with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Keniah Williams recorded a strong all-around performance, finishing with 10 points, a team-high nine rebounds and three blocks. Stevi Lockhart chipped in seven points, while Taylor Grona and Tristin Keller grabbed six rebounds apiece. Briley Merket and Kenna Wood also scored for the Rambelles.

Angelo State returns to action Saturday, Dec. 20, when it hosts Emporia State at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
