SAN ANGELO, Texas –
Keniah Williams posted a 25-point double-double to lead the Angelo State women's basketball team to a 72-64 win over Emporia State on Saturday afternoon at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.
With the win, the Rambelles improve to a 3-6 overall record while dropping the Lady Hornets to 7-4.
Emporia State opened the game red-hot, shooting 56.2 percent from the field and knocking down all six of its three-point attempts in the first quarter to take a nine-point lead. The Lady Hornets cooled off the rest of the way, finishing the game shooting 34.5 percent overall, 8-of-24 from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the free-throw line.
Angelo State finished the contest shooting just under 40 percent from the field, 20 percent from three-point range and 63.2 percent at the line. The Rambelles controlled key areas of the game, winning the turnover battle (17-13), outrebounding Emporia State 44-41 and outscoring the Lady Hornets 40-18 in the paint.
Williams recorded her third double-double of the season with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while also adding five blocks on the defensive end.
Majik Esquivel added 23 points on 50 percent shooting, along with six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Taylor Grona contributed across the stat sheet, finishing with six assists, three steals and a team-high 13 rebounds, while scoring one point.
Stevi Lockhart scored 11 points, and
Landry Morrow,
Tristin Keller and
Kenna Wood combined for the remaining 12 points for the Rambelles.
Angelo State returns to action in 2026, hosting UT Tyler in Lone Star Conference play on Jan. 2. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
