Miscues Cost Rambelles Against UT Tyler

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Turnovers proved costly for the Angelo State women's basketball team, which committed 28 miscues in a 45-42 loss to UT Tyler on Thursday in its first game of the 2026 calendar year.

The loss snapped the Rambelles' two-game winning streak and dropped them to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in Lone Star Conference play.

Angelo State shot 31.1 percent from the field, including 27.6 percent from beyond the arc, and went 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. The Rambelles were outrebounded 35-33 and limited to 12 points in the paint.

Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 16 points, shooting 50 percent from the field and from 3-point range while converting both of her free throws.

Keniah Williams led ASU with 10 rebounds and three blocks but was held to five points.

Taylor Grona added nine points and six rebounds, while Stevi Lockhart, Briley Merket and Kenna Wood also scored for the Rambelles.

Angelo State returns to action Sunday, Jan. 4, when it hosts No. 3 Texas Woman's at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
