LUBBOCK, Texas – A difficult second quarter proved costly for the Angelo State women's basketball team, which fell to No. 4 Lubbock Christian 77-59 on Saturday afternoon at the Rip Griffin Center.
With the loss, the Rambelles drop to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
Angelo State shot 34.5 percent from the field, including 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and finished 68.8 percent at the free-throw line. Four players scored in double figures, led by
Majik Esquivel, who finished with 16 points, a team-high two steals, four rebounds and two assists.
Taylor Grona added 13 points while shooting 60 percent from three. She also recorded four rebounds and a team-high three assists.
Landry Morrow scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, handed out three assists and tallied two steals. She also notched the Rambelles' only block.
Stevi Lockhart rounded out the group with 10 points.
The Rambelles will take a week off before returning to the Junell Center–Stephens Arena on Monday, Dec. 15, to host Texas A&M International. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
