SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 2 Angelo State baseball team defeated Sul Ross State by a score of 9-5 on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the victory, the Rams secure its second series sweep of the 2025 campaign and go to a 10-2 record to remain atop the Lone Star Conference while dropping the Lobos to 1-11.
The Ram struck first in the bottom of the game's opening inning as a balk scored

Tayten Tredaway scored
Jacob Guerrero. A couple of batters later, an RBI double from
Lane Hutchinson gave the Rams a quick 3-0 lead.
Blake Wilhoite led off the ensuing inning with a single to left field. After a wild pitch and a groundout moved him to third, a throwing error scored him to extend the lead to four runs.
The Lobos responded in the top of the fourth inning with a walk and a couple of two-out base hits to cut the lead down to one run against Rams' starter
Alizaeh Gutierrez. The senior left-hander finished his start pitching four complete innings where he allowed the three aforementioned runs off five hits and a walk while collecting two strikeouts.
After a quiet top of the fifth, courtesy of
Luke Olson, the Blue and Gold doubled the run total highlighted by a two RBI single to right center from
Justin Harris that made it a 8-3 ballgame.
The Rams scratched its final run across in the bottom of the sixth inning as Guerrero drew a one-out walk. After he stole second,
Tayten Tredaway pulled a double down the right field line that scored the runner and extended the lead back to six runs.
Sul Ross State battled back in the top of the eighth with four hits resulting in two runs scored off reliever

Caleb Heuertz entered the game with the bases loaded to limit the damage before he slammed the door in the ninth to collect his second save and secure the sweep for the Rams.
Angelo State baseball will be back in action next weekend as the Rams travel to Edmond, Oklahoma for a four-game series against Oklahoma Christian scheduled to begin Friday, Feb. 21.
