Rambelles Fall to No. 1 Texas Woman's

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Texas Woman's on Thursday evening inside the Junell Center - Stephens arena by score of 69-51.
 
The Rambelles are 16-10 overall and 12-8 in Lone Star Conference action.
 
Madeline Stephens would break the school record for rebounds in a career with 1083 after recording a 13-point nine-rebound performance. 
 
40 Minute Rundown 
  • Stephens would hit two threes to bring the Rambelles lead to 8-3 with 5:44 remaining in the first quarter.
  • In the last minute of the first quarter Keniah Williams would hit back-to-back baskets as she would bring the Rambelles lead to,17-11, going into the second quarter of action.
  • Lelia Patel would tie the game at 19-19 at the 5:16 marker of the second quarter. 
  • Landy Morrow would score five points in 30 seconds, giving the Rambelles a 24-21 lead with 4:23 remaining in the half.
  • Scout Huffman gave the Pioneers a 27-26 lead their first of the contest with 1:38 remaining in the half.
  • Patel would hit a three as time expired to give the Pioneers a 32-26 lead heading into halftime. 
  • Ariyanna Hines hit a three at the 5:46 marker to give the Pioneers a 44-32 lead their first double-digit lead of the contest. 
  • ASU went into the final quarter of action trailing, 53-39.
  • Majik Esquivel would hit her first three of the contests at the 6:14 marker to bring the Rambelles deficit to 12, 56-44. 
  • Scout Huffman scored the next eight of 12 points to extend the Pioneers lead to, 58-44.
  • The Pioneers would go on to defeat the Rambelles, 69-51.

  • Stephens broke the school record for rebounds in a career with 1083 after her 13-point, nine-rebound performance. 
  • Williams was the other double-digit scorer for the Rambelles as she recorded 11 points and had nine rebounds.
  • The Belles had eight different scorers in the contest. 
  • The Belles would shoot 27 percent (18-65) from the field, 32 percent (8-25) from beyond the arc, and 70 percent (7-10) from the free throw line. 
  • The Blue and Gold would be outrebounded 42-39.
