Ananyev, Paden Sweep Pole Vault Titles on Day One of the LSC Indoor Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Angelo State track & field teams tallied two titles on day one of the 2025 Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships on Friday, competing at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
 
After day one, the Rambelles sit in second place in the team standings with 45 points while the Rams are in third with 43 points.

Oleg Ananyev turned in the second-best performance in all of Division II this season in the men's pole vault, taking gold at the conference meet with a mark of 5.44m (17-10.25). On the women's side, Kylyie Paden finished first overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.80m (12-5.5)
 
In the women's heptathlon, Kylie Frush finished second overall with a total of 3,380 points. She finished first overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.34.
 
After day one of the men's decathlon, Mark Burdin sits in first place with a total of 3,040 points. He finished with the top marks in the shot put and the high jump.
 
Adrian Washington finished second overall in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00m (6-6.75) while Burdin finished third at 1.96m (6-5).
 
Marie Schuler took second overall in the women's weight throw, tossing a mark of 17.41m (57-1.5).
 
On the track, Rami Balti turned in the top time in the prelims of the 400-meter dash, running a time of 46.89, while Solomon Odonkor took second in the prelims of the 200-meter dash at 21.06. Odonkor also qualified for the finals of the 60-meter dash, taking fourth in the prelims with a time of 6.81.
 
Adrian Nethersole and Antonio Blair qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run with Nethersole taking fourth at 1:51.50 followed by Blair in fifth at 1:52.78.
 
Jacent Nyamahunge took second in the prelims of the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, running times of 7.57 and 24.02 respectively.
 
Qualifying for the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles was Lainey Jernigan who finished fourth in the prelims with a time of 8.94.
 
Day two of the championship meet continues tomorrow with the decathlon at 11 a.m. CT while field events begin at noon CT and running events begin at 2:30 p.m. CT.
