NEW ORLEANS – The Angelo State track & field teams moved up in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Top 25 rankings as the Rambelles are now seventh overall while the Rams moved up to eighth.
ASU recorded 12 provisional marks at the 53
rd Annual David Noble Relays, nine of which ranked in the top 10 in all of Division II.
The Rams lead the country in two events with
Oleg Ananev holding the top mark in the pole vault at 5.60m (18-4.5) and
Mark Burdin leading the decathlon with a score of 7,338 points. The men's 4x400m relay team of
Taylor Briggs,
Adrian Nethersole,
Tristan Guerrero, and
Rami Balti rank fifth (3:09.63), while
Solomon Odonkor is 10
th in the 100m (10.31) and 15
th in the 200m (20.90).
On the women's side, the Rambelles hold five marks that rank in the top 10 in the country.
Marie Schuler is third in the hammer throw (60.01m | 196-10),
Federica Dozio is third in the javelin (50.03m | 164-2), and
Maricia Spence is third in the heptathlon (5,333).
Kylie Frush holds the seventh-best total in the heptathlon at 5,063 points and ranks eighth in the long jump at 6.01m (19-8.75).
ASU will be back in action on Saturday as the Rams and Rambelles compete at the Cactus Cup hosted by Texas A&M – Kingsville on April 12.
