DENVER – The Angelo State volleyball team was unable to stop its skid today at the Colorado Premier Challenge, dropping a pair of four-set matches to RV Missouri Western and No. 11 Concordia-St. Paul.
The Belles' offense struggled, only hitting .121 against the Griffons.
Madi Parrish recorded her fourth consecutive double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs. Parrish also led the Belles with five blocks.
Julia Hopkins and
Amelia Creacy joined their teammate with double-digit kills with 12 and 11, respectively.
Madison Scrivner had a 31-assist, 14-dig double-double; libero
Ireland Ferguson led the Belles with 23 digs, and sophomore
Allie Duitsman recorded a career-high 15 digs.
The Belles' nightcap saw the nation's second-ranked team come out hot offensively, only committing one error in the opening set as they hit .414 to win set one 25-20 over the Golden Bears.
However, 11
th-ranked Concordia-St. Paul would bounce back to win the following three sets 25-10, 25-21, and 25-21.
Parrish recorded nearly half of the Belles' kills, with 22 of the team's 46 kills coming from the reigning AVCA National Player of the Week. Parrish hit .405 in this match, her fourth match hitting over .400 this season.
Scrivner assisted 33 times, and
Cate Boldrick led the Belles with four blocks.
The Belles are now 4-3 this season; they close out the Colorado Premier Challenge tomorrow, starting against Regis at 12:30 p.m.
