DENVER – The Angelo State volleyball team bounced back from a rough first day at the Colorado Premier Challenge by sweeping hosts Regis and No. 21 Bentley as the Belles claimed top honors in the Bronze Bracket this evening.
The Belles got off to a hot start against the Rangers, winning set one 25-9 before finishing the sweep with 25-13 and 25-21 set wins.
The Belles hit .467 in the opening frame, only making two errors on 15 swings and converting nine kills.
For the match, the Belles hit .246, and their stout defense held the Rangers to a -.096 attack percentage.
Only playing in one set,
Julia Hopkins led the Belles with six kills and a .556 attack percentage.
Madi Parrish had five kills, three aces, and six digs in her lone set of action.

Ireland Ferguson accounted for 14 of the Belles' 30 digs.
Facing their second ranked opponent of the weekend, the Belles fared better against the nation's 21
st-ranked team, winning 25-17, 25-20, and 25-21.
Set two saw the Belles trail 20-17 to the reigning East regional champions, but the Belles scored eight unanswered points to take the set.
Hopkins once again led the Belles in kills with 15, hitting .314.
Madison Scrivner recorded a double-double against the Falcons with 22 assists and 11 digs. Ferguson led the Belles with 15 digs as the Belles held Bentley to a .106 attack percentage.
The two wins today snapped the Belles' six-match losing streak in the Colorado Premier Challenge.
The Belles' record stands at 6-3 following this weekend's action. The Belles close out their longest road trip of the season next weekend when they travel to Canyon to face UT Tyler and No. 5 West Texas A&M in the LSC Challenge.
