Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State volleyball team dropped the first two sets of the LSC Challenge against UT Tyler on Friday evening inside The Box on the campus of West Texas A&M, but fought back to force a fifth set against the Patriots, who ended up claiming the match with a 16-14 decision in the fifth set.
The Belles committed 14 attack errors in the first two sets but only had ten in the final three sets. They hit .213 for the match.
Julia Hopkins spearheaded the Belles' attack, leading the squad with a career-high 18 kills on a .378 attack percentage.
Cate Boldrick added 11 kills and blocked five UTT attacks at the net.
Sydney Thornton had eight kills on a .538 attack percentage.
Allie Duitsman turned in a complete all-around performance, recording seven kills on 14 swings and not committing an error. The sophomore had four aces, nine digs, and two blocks.
Gabi Ashcraft led the Belles with 24 assists, while
Madison Scrivner had 21 assists and ten digs. The duo had four and three aces, respectively.

Ireland Ferguson led the Belles with 15 digs.
The Belles are 6-4 on the season. They close out their weekend tomorrow afternoon against No. 10 West Texas A&M.
