SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team capped off its first weekend of Lone Star Conference action with a four-set win over St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon inside the Junell Center-Stephens Arena to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
The Belles won set one 25-14, while the Hilltoppers recovered to win set two by the same scoreline.
The Belles regroup in sets three and four, hitting .319 in the final two sets to win those frames 25-15 and 25-18.
The Belles' defense was stout, holding the Hilltoppers to an .048 attack percentage; the Belles recorded 16 blocks at the net, a new season best.
Madi Parrish led all players with 14 kills while hitting .286. The junior outside notched another double-double, adding ten digs.
Raelee Allen set new career highs with 12 kills and eight blocks; the redshirt freshman entered the match with ten blocks in ten matches in her rookie season.
Cate Boldrick had eight kills and seven blocks, and
Julia Hopkins contributed six kills.
Gabi Ashcraft led the Belles with 19 assists, also digging six times.
Chanelle Cancel, in her first collegiate start, assisted ten times and recorded three digs.

Ireland Ferguson led the Belles with 21 digs, her fourth match with 20 or more digs this season and the first since the Belles' win over Missouri Western on Sept. 12
th.
Allie Duitsman had ten digs off the bench as the Belles out-dug the Hilltoppers 68-58.
The Belles improve to 8-5 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Belles are back in action next weekend in Oklahoma, facing Oklahoma Christian and Cameron.
