SAN ANGELO, Texas — Hot shooting by UT Permian Basin proved too much for the Angelo State women's basketball program on Tuesday night as the Rambelles fell 76-67 at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.
The loss drops the Belles to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in Lone Star Conference play.
Angelo State shot 37.5% from the field, including 38.9% from 3-point range, and went 75% from the free-throw line. UT Permian Basin countered with 51% shooting overall and 47.6% from beyond the arc while outrebounding the Rambelles 36-29.
Majik Esquivel led Angelo State with 20 points, scoring 10 from the free-throw line, and added a game-high four steals.
Landry Morrow finished with 16 points, a team-high seven rebounds and five assists.
Taylor Grona,
Kenna Wood and
Halle Hughes scored seven points apiece. Grona added four rebounds, while Wood recorded two blocks.
Stevi Lockheart,
Briley Merket and
Tristin Keller also scored for the Rambelles.
Angelo State returns to action Thursday, Jan. 15, when it hosts UT Dallas at 5:30 p.m. at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.
