SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team saw four players achieve double-digit points as the Rambelles out shined UT Dallas in a 63-49 victory at the Junell Center-Stephens Arena on Thursday evening.
With the win, the Belles improve to a 6-9 overall record and 4-5 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Rambelles took the lead early and never looked back as they shot 36.1 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from the three point line and only 57.9 percent from the free throw line. The Belles out rebounded the Comets 48-38, forced 16 turnovers and converted it into 18 points.
Taylor Grona paced the team, scoring 16 points courtesy of making seven of her eight free throws. Furthermore, she dished out a team-best four assists and collected eight rebounds and nabbed two steals.
Majik Esquivel finished with 14 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.
Keniah Williams scored 11 points off the bench and added three rebounds and two blocks.
Landry Morrow rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, along with a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.
Tristin Keller, Stevi Lockheart,
Briley Merket and
Kenna Wood rounded out the scoring for the Belles.
The Angelo State women's basketball program will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 21 when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Junell Center-Stephens Arena with the tip off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
