SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team opened the 2026 portion of its schedule in emphatic fashion on Friday evening inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena with a 76-50 win over UT Tyler.
The Rams' offensive outburst saw them set a season high in three-pointers made (12) and three-point percentage (52.2 percent).
The Rams also knocked down 14 of their 17 free throws.
Defensively, the Rams held the Patriots to 37.8 percent shooting from the field and 18.2 percent from three, forcing 17 turnovers.
Kailon Nicholls led all players with a career-high 24 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field. The Canadian made five of his eight three-point attempts and was perfect in five chances at the charity stripe.
Davon Scott also shot 5-for-8 from three-point range, scoring 15 points.
Jaqai Murray recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The senior forward also assisted three times.
Jordan Crawford scored nine points, assisted five times, and recorded three steals, while
Jabbari Barry scored eight points and nabbed two steals in 22 minutes off the bench.
The Rams improve to 11-4 on the season and 2-2 in LSC play. They are back in action on Sunday when they host defending regional champions DBU inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
