SAN ANGELO, Texas – In a game that featured nine lead changes and eight ties, the Angelo State women's basketball team pushed No. 3 Texas Woman's for most of the afternoon but could not close out the contest in a 71-65 loss Sunday at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.
With the loss, the Rambelles dropped to 3-8 overall record and 1-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
Angelo State led for 18 minutes and shot 39.6% from the field, including 46.2% from 3-point range. Much of that production came from
Majik Esquivel, who led all scorers with 26 points. Esquivel knocked down six 3-pointers and went 4-for-4 at the free throw line while adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Landry Morrow finished with 18 points, scoring four 3-pointers in the second half. She also recorded eight rebounds and one assist.
Taylor Grona rounded out the Rambelles' double-digit scorers with 11 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.

Tristin Keller also scored for Angelo State.
The Rambelles return to action Thursday, Jan. 8, when they travel to Oklahoma to face Cameron. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
