KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team overcame a 1-0 deficit and never looked back on the way to defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville 69-48 on Saturday afternoon at the Steinke Center.
With the win, the Belles find themselves one game under .500 with an 8-9 overall record and 6-5 in Lone Star Conference play.
Angelo State bounced back with an improved shooting performance, finishing at 41.9 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from 3-point range. The Rambelles won the rebounding battle 43-40 and forced 14 turnovers, converting them into nine points.
Defensively, ASU limited the Javelinas to 26.8 percent shooting from the floor and 24 percent from beyond the arc.
Landry Morrow led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and knocking down five 3-pointers. She added four assists, three rebounds and a steal.
Halle Hughes followed with 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Keniah Williams rounded out the Rambelles' double-figure scorers with 10 points. The senior also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while adding four assists and four blocks.

Dragana Scepanovic scored the first points of her collegiate career in the win.
The Rambelles will now face another familiar opponent as they travel to Odessa to face UT Permian Basin on Thursday, January 29, with the tip-off scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
