ODESSA, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to defeat UT Permian Basin by a final score of 60-51 on Thursday evening at the Falcon Dome.
With the win, the Rambelles improved to 9-9 overall and 7-5 in Lone Star Conference play, reaching the .500 mark for the first time this season. ASU has now won four straight games and six of its last seven.
Angelo State set the tone early, scoring 20 points in the opening quarter on 61.5 percent shooting from the field before finishing the game at 37.1 percent overall. The Rambelles controlled the glass with a 49-38 rebounding advantage and forced 16 turnovers, converting them into 14 points.
Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 15 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal.
Landry Morrow recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Taylor Grona and
Kenna Wood chipped in nine points apiece while combining for 15 rebounds.
Stevi Lockhart added eight points, while
Halle Hughes,
Keniah Williams,
Briley Merket and
Tristin Keller also scored for ASU.
The Rambelles return home on Thursday, Feb. 5, to host Western New Mexico at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
