ODESSA, Texas – The No. 9 Angelo State baseball team secured its second straight run-rule victory over UT Permian Basin with a 13-3 win Saturday afternoon at Roden Field.
With the win, ASU improved to 2-0 overall and in Lone Star Conference play.
The Rams opened the scoring in the first inning when
Payton Bush delivered a two-run single to left field, bringing home
Garrett Wallace and
Chase Pendley.
UTPB answered with a run in the bottom of the inning, but Angelo State starter
Garrett Baumann settled in to earn the win. The senior from Post, Texas, worked five innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out six.
Austin Beck paced the Rams' offense, driving in four runs with two RBI doubles in the third and fifth innings as the Blue and Gold built its lead.
After the Falcons scored twice in the fifth, the Rams put the game away by scoring six unanswered runs.

Christian Garnette each recorded RBI singles during the surge.
Jalen Rogers,
Garrett Villa and
Ridge Morgan combined to pitch the final three innings to close out the victory.
The Rams will look to complete the series sweep on Sunday, Feb. 1, at Roden Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
