Albuquerque, N.M. – The Angelo State track and field teams recorded five provisional times on track on day two of competition at the New Mexico Team Open hosted by the University of New Mexico.
For the weekend, the Rambelles and Rams tallied nine provisional marks.
The lone individual provisional of the day belongs to
Rami Balti, who ran a 46.79 in the 400m dash. Balti won the event behind what is now the second-fastest time in Division II this season.
The other four provisional times came in the 4x400 meter relays – three for the Rams and one for the Rambelles.
The 4x400m relay team of
Taylor Briggs,
William Opare,
Francis Patanpatan, and
Rami Balti ran a 3:09.52, winning the event with the fourth-fastest time in Division II.
Finishing behind their teammates in second place in the event,
Jahleel Armstrong,
Lamont Reed,
Karl Patanpatan, and
Bautista Diamante crossed the line with a time of 3:11.87, which is the eighth-fastest in Division II.
The team of
Evan Kipley,
Tristan Guerrero,
Reece Waddell, and
Adrian Nethersole ran a provisional time of 3:14.26.
Exiting this weekend, the Rams have six of the nation's top 20 times in the event this season.
The women's 4x400m relay, which included
Lainey Jernigan,
Keagan Galmor, and Helen Wiethoff, ran a 3:49.95, a provisional time in the event.
The Rams and Rambelles are off next weekend before they compete again on February 13-14 in Lubbock at the Jarvis Scott Open.
