RICHARDSON, Texas –
Julia Hopkins earned her first Lone Star Conference weekly honor of the season Tuesday, as the junior was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week following a pair of standout performances on the road.
The honor marks the third weekly award for the No. 6 Angelo State University volleyball team this season.
Hopkins, a psychology major from Austin, Texas, averaged 4.38 kills per set while hitting .329 to help lead the Belles to road victories over UT Dallas and UT Tyler. She opened the weekend with a career-high 19 kills on a .368 attack percentage in ASU's 3-1 win over UT Dallas before following with 16 kills on .289 hitting in another 3-1 victory over UT Tyler.
Across the two matches, Hopkins added eight digs, three total blocks and an assist as the Belles extended their winning streak to nine matches.
Entering the weekend, Hopkins leads the team with 191 kills while hitting .260. She has also contributed 216.5 points, ranking second on the team.
The Belles will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Odessa to face UT Permian Basin. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
