SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University women's basketball team delivered a balanced offensive performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Midwestern State 86-77 at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena.
With the win, the Belles improved to 15-9 overall and 13-5 in Lone Star Conference play. ASU extended its winning streak to 10 games and has now won 12 of its last 13 contests.
Prior to tipoff, Angelo State honored its four seniors —
Landry Morrow,
Briley Merket,
Tristin Keller and
Chidera Ezeilo — in a pregame ceremony.
The Rambelles shot 40.8 percent from the field, including 39.4 percent from 3-point range, and 88.2 percent from the free-throw line. ASU matched the Mustangs with 46 rebounds and forced 17 turnovers, converting them into 18 points.
Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 26 points, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and converting all six free throws. She added seven rebounds and five assists.
Landry Morrow followed with 17 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Briley Merket added 14 points, knocking down four of her five attempts from 3-point range.
Kenna Wood and
Taylor Grona each scored eight points, while
Stevi Lockhart and
Tristin Keller added six apiece. Keller also recorded a team-high 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Dragana Scepanovic rounded out the scoring with two points.
The Rambelles return to action Thursday, Feb. 26, traveling to Canyon to face West Texas A&M. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
