CANYON, Texas – The Angelo State University women's basketball team went scoreless over the final 6:28 Thursday night, falling 69-62 to No. 7 West Texas A&M at the First United Bank Center.
With the loss, the Rambelles' 10-game winning streak came to an end as ASU dropped to 15-10 overall and 13-6 in Lone Star Conference play.
Angelo State shot 38.3 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range but struggled in the fourth quarter, converting just 13.3 percent of its overall shot attempts. The Rambelles were outrebounded 39-30 but forced 21 turnovers and turned them into 26 points.
Stevi Lockhart led ASU with a career-high 20 points, knocking down five 3-pointers.
Majik Esquivel added 15 points, five rebounds and a team-high three steals.
Taylor Grona finished with 10 points, while
Landry Morrow contributed seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Kenna Wood also scored seven, and
Briley Merket added three to round out the scoring.
Angelo State closes the regular season Saturday, Feb. 28, traveling to Portales, N.M., to face Eastern New Mexico University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
