No. 9 Rams Fall in Extras to No. 4 UT Tyler

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 9 Angelo State baseball team fell to No. 4 UT Tyler 2-0 in extra innings on Saturday afternoon at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 3-2 overall and in the Lone Star Conference.

The game remained scoreless through nine innings as both teams generated scoring opportunities but were unable to break through.

The Rams' best chance came in the third inning when Blake Wilhoite doubled down the left-field line and Chase Pendley drew a walk. The runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, but the inning ended with a strikeout.

After redshirt freshman Ryan Cook was pressed into early action in the first inning, the Rams' pitching staff kept UT Tyler off the scoreboard. Cook delivered six strong innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out two while forcing two of the four double plays from ASU pitching on the day.

Jalen Rogers and Garrett Villa followed out of the bullpen and worked through multiple scoring threats before UT Tyler pushed two runs in the top of the 10th on a pair of hits.

The Rams will face UT Tyler in the series rubber match Sunday at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
