Carmel, Calif. – The Angelo State women's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of play at the Patriot Invitational hosted by DBU in eighth place as the Rambelles are holding their own amid a twelve-team field where nine teams are nationally ranked.
The Rambelles shot 29-over as a team in round one, which placed them 11
th. However, the Rambelles shaved eight strokes off their round one score, carding a 21-over, which saw them move up three places.
Beth Norton paces the Rambelles as she sits tied for eighth place. The senior shot six-over in the opening round before shooting a 71 (-1) in the second round, one of only two players to do so in the second round.
Christine Huse is in a tie for 30
th place after shooting a 77 (+6) and a 78 (+7) in her two rounds of play, and
Mia Clarke sits one stroke behind her teammate in 35
th place.
Caitlin Vanderkruk, the only Rambelle to have previously played this course, opened with an 83 (+11) before taking four strokes off her round two effort.
Addison Barber, like Vanderkruk, cut four strokes from round one to round two, having shot 28-over through two rounds.
The Rambelles play the final 18 holes of the Patriot Invitational tomorrow, with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. Pacific time.
