Richardson, Texas – Following a standout week on the track, Angelo State track freshman
Francis Patanpatan has been named the Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon.
Patanpatan, a product of Hawley, Texas, recorded three NCAA Division II provisional times at the Wes Kittley Invitational in Abilene this past weekend.
The Business student ran a 21.00 in the 200 meters, which is the top mark in the LSC and fourth-best time in the entire country.
He is part of the 4x100-meter relay team that holds the best time (39.41) in the nation and the 4x400-meter relay team that holds the second-best time (3:10.44) in all the land.
He took silver in the 200 and gold in both relays. Patanpatan also posted a 47.61 in the 400 meters, which was good for sixth place at the event.
This is the first weekly award of his collegiate career for Patanpatan.
Patanpatan and the Rams are home this Thursday-Saturday to host the David Noble Relays.
