SAN ANGELO – The heptathlon and decathlon athletes for the Angelo State track and field teams wrapped up day one of competition in the 54
th Annual David Noble Relays inside the LeGrand Stadium at 1
st Community Credit Union Field.
For the Rambelles,
Abril Okon paces the team as she sits in fifth place with 3,111 points. Ahead of Okon in the standings is a trio of Kansas State athletes, along with LSC Pentathlon champion Juliane Frueh of UT Tyler.
Okon finished third in the 100m hurdles and the long jump.
Kylie Frush is in seventh with 2,946 points, ending her day with a strong second-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 24.40. Frush also recorded a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 10.26 meters.
Gracie Stephens sits in seventh with 2,709 points, and
Sealie Hughes is 13
th with 2,320 points.
For the Rams,
Travis Matthews is in seventh place with 3,706 points, as his day was highlighted by a pair of fourth-place finishes in the long jump and the shot put.
The multi athletes close out competition tomorrow with the decathlon continuing at 12:30 p.m., while the heptathlon will resume at 1:30 p.m.
The shot put and triple jump will be contested at 5 p.m. tomorrow, while the 3000m steeplechase and the 10000m run will be run on track beginning at 7 p.m.
