SAN ANGELO – Day two of competition wrapped up this evening at the 54
th Annual David Noble Relays at LeGrand Stadium at 1
st Community Credit Union Field, which saw a pair of Angelo State throwers claim event wins in the shot put.
Kamryn Williams and
Vanam Sharma took top honors in the event, with Williams' throw of 14.18 meters good enough for a provisional mark as the junior from Wall set a new personal best.
Sharma's winning throw of 16.74 meters was also good enough for a qualifying mark but was not an improvement from the junior's season-best mark.
Kobi Valchar and Jeremiah Franks finished fifth and eighth in the shot put with throws of 14.96 and 14.21 meters, respectively.
Chasity Benson and
Caden Glenn claimed wins in the 3000m steeplechase.
At the triple jump,
Thombias Moy finished second in the men's competition while
Kyla Lumpkins and
Helene Wiethoff were third and fourth on the women's side.
Today also saw the multis close competition, as
Kylie Frush finished seventh in the heptathlon with 5,012 points to pace the Rambelles. Her best mark today came in the javelin, where she finished third. Frush's point total is a provisional mark.
Abril Okon also posted a qualifying mark in the heptathlon with 4,709 points.
Gracie Stephens and
Sealie Hughes finished 10
th and 12
th, respectively, in the event.
Travis Matthews, the lone Ram in the decathlon, finished ninth overall. His best event on day two was the discus, where he finished fourth.
The Rambelles and Rams wrap up the David Noble Relays tomorrow, with the first events set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
