No. 7 Rambelles Continue Homestand with UT Tyler, Texas Woman's

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team continues its homestand this weekend, hosting UT Tyler and Texas Woman's at Mayer Softball Field.

The Rambelles and Patriots' doubleheader will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday. The Rambelles will close their weekend with the Pioneers on Sunday at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles stayed undefeated in LSC play following doubleheader sweeps of Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Rambelles won a pair of run-rule games against the Dustdevils before claiming 6-2 and 6-5 wins over the Javelinas.

RAMBELLES NOTCH 1,000th ALL-TIME WIN
The Rambelles' 18-0 win on Friday, February 20th, over Midwestern State was the 1,000th all-time win for the Angelo State softball program since they started competition in the 2002 season. They join St. Edward's, which also recorded its program's 1,000th win on Friday, February 20th, and St. Mary's, which has 1,109 wins, most coming under the guidance of the legendary Donna Fields, who led the Rattlers for 27 seasons, as the only programs in the conference to win more than a thousand games.

DENDAS, SiFUENTES WIN LSC WEEKLY AWARDS
Ashleigh Dendas and Zoey Sifuentes claimed the conference's pitcher and freshman of the week awards, respectively, following their performances this past weekend against Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Dendas allowed one run in 10.1 innings of work, throwing a one-hitter against the Dustdevils, while Sifuentes hit .545 with seven RBI to lead the Rambelles' offense. This is Dendas' first career weekly away, and Sifuentes claimed her third freshman of the week accolade in her rookie season.

SCOUTING UT TYLER
The two-time defending national champions, UT Tyler, are 15-5 on the season and 7-1 in conference play. After a 9-5 start to the season, the Patriots have won each of their past six games.

The Patriots are hitting .331 this season, averaging 7.6 runs per game. Seven Patriots hit above .300, led by Kaylee Cavazos' .446 average. Catcher Taryn Barney leads the team with six home runs, and Laci Berecochea leads the team with 23 runs driven in.

The Patriots' pitching staff has a 3.61 ERA and has struck out 93 batters in 132 innings. Opponents are hitting .290 against the Patriots. Kearston Gooch leads the team with a 9-2 overall record and a 1.98 ERA. Kendall Selitzky is holding opposing hitters to a .268 batting average.

The Rambelles are 5-11 all-time against the Patriots. Last season, the Rambelles and Patriots split their regular-season doubleheader in Tyler before UTT eliminated the Rambelles in the LSC Tournament semifinals. All five of the Rambelles' wins in this series have come by a 3-2 scoreline.

SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S
Texas Woman's is 6-10 on the season and 4-4 in conference play; the Pioneers are 2-2 in true road games this season.

TWU is hitting .246 as a team, with two hitters exceeding .300. Marissa Espinoza is hitting .396 and leads the team with seven extra-base hits. Tamia Cherry and Lizzie Smith lead the team with three home runs each.

The Pioneers' pitching staff has a 4.40 ERA and a .315 opponent batting average. Randi Crawford leads the team with a 3.00 ERa and has picked up four of the Pioneers' six wins. The sophomore has struck out 45 batters in 46.2 innings of work.

The Rambelles are 61-18-1 all-time against the Pioneers. Last season, the two teams split the doubleheader. This marks the Pioneers' first trip to San Angelo since the 2023 season.

ZOEY 1 O' 1
Rambelles third baseman Zoey Sifuentes has earned four weekly awards this season, the most in the LSC. She has been named the LSC Freshman of the Week three times and the LSC Hitter of the Week once for her play during the Rambelles' trip to Florida. The Kinesiology major leads the conference in doubles (11), is fourth in slugging percentage (.910), RBI (31), batting average (.482), and on-base percentage (.580), and is fifth in home runs (5).

TROTTER NAMED LSC PRESEASON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Rambelles senior outfielder Tatiana Trotter was selected as the conference's preseason player of the year, as voted on by the league's coaches, SIDs, and media members. Trotter, an Intelligence and Analysis student from Lubbock, is coming off a season in which she hit .330 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI. She slugged .648 and had a .449 on-base percentage. Trotter also notched seven assists from the outfield en route to being named an LSC Golden Glove winner. The senior was also a third-team Academic All-American selection last season. Trotter has hit 13 career triples, making her the active Division II leader in that category.

RAMBELLES PICKED THIRD IN LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Rambelles were picked to repeat their third-place finish in the LSC Preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches, SIDs, and media members. The Rambelles received a pair of first-place votes and tallied 753 total points. Two-time defending champions UT Tyler were picked to repeat as conference champions with 849 total points and 39 of 51 first-place votes. West Texas A&M received eight first-place votes and 817 total points. Oklahoma Christian and Lubbock Christian each received a first-place vote to round out the top five. Cameron, Eastern New Mexico, St. Edward's, and St. Mary's round out the top nine in what would fill the spots for the LSC Tournament.

25 YEARS OF RAMBELLES SOFTBALL
The Angelo State softball program is playing its 25th season of Division II softball this season. The Rambelles hold a record of 1,007-366-1 since the 2002 season. In that time, the Rambelles have qualified for 19 NCAA Tournaments, won six South Central regional championships, won the 2004 National Championship, and finished as National Runners-Up in 2017.

RETURNING STATS
The Rambelles' lineup only returns 364 of their 1,535 at-bats from a season ago, with Tatiana Trotter and Abby Brand the only mainstays returning from last season's lineup. In the circle, Bri Waters is the lone holdover from last season's pitching staff. All in all, 14 new faces will suit up for the Rambelles in 2026.
