Schuler Breaks LSC Hammer Record: No. 7 Rams, Rambelles Tally 20 Provisional Marks at ASU Invite

SAN ANGELO – In Angelo State track and field's final team meet before the Lone Star Conference, the Rams and Rambelles collected 19 provisional marks this week and broke a program record as they competed the past two days at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

The highlight was senior Marie Schuler winning the hammer throw and breaking the program record with a mark of 201-7 (61.44 meters). The throw beats the program record she set last season at the LSC Championships, which was 201-2 (61.32m). The throw ranks fourth in the country and also breaks the Lone Star Conference record in the event.

Esma Pajt and Kamryn Williams finished second and third in the hammer behind their teammate with throws of 54.60 and 54.59 meters, respectively. The provisionals are not improvements on previously set marks for the duo.

Williams did improve on a qualifying mark in the discus (46.80m) yesterday. She wrapped up her strong meet by claiming top honors in the shot put (13.55m) this afternoon.

Kylie Frush won the women's long jump with a best mark of 19-4.75 (5.19m), tallying a provisional mark in the process.

Kaylee Price ran a season-best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.10. She also won the 400m hurdles, breaking a minute with a time of 59.58. Both marks are qualifying marks.

Ekaterina Fedotova threw her way to top honors in the javelin with a provisional of 45.30 meters.

The 4x100m relay team of Kylie Frush, Keagan Galmor, Aaliyah Harrison, and Kinlee Lawlis won the event with a provisional time of 45.82. Harrison also had success individually, claiming wins in the 100 meters (11.99) and 200 meters (24.80).

Emma Dikken claimed a win in the 400 meters (56.20), while Ashley Stratton took top honors in the 800 meters (2:28.16) and the 1500 meters (5:02.25). Chasity Benson finished first in the 3000-meter steeplechase (13:16.75), and the relay team of Shackelia Green, Brylee Gutierrez, Sealie Hughes, and Lilly Benson won the 4x400m relay (4:07.37).

For the Rams yesterday, Kobi Valchar won the discus with a qualifying throw of 169-4 (51.62m) but did not improve on his season best. Vanam Sharma (51.21m) also hurled a provisional mark but did not improve on his previously set best mark.
Sharma won the shot put today with a best hurl of 16.96 meters.

Jonathan Wright vaulted a best of 16-6.75 (5.05m), winning the event with a provisional but not improving on the mark he set last week at the Greyhound Open.

Jaime Moreno won the javelin with a throw of 205-2 (62.55m), a qualifying mark but not a season-best.

Running the 100 meters for the first time this season, William Opare finished in 10.17 seconds, ranking sixth in the country and winning the event.

Jahleel Armstrong and Francis Patanpatan finished 1-2 in the 200 meters with provisional times of 21.05 and 21.09 seconds, respectively. The mark is a season-best for Armstrong.

Adrian Nethersole won the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.68, a qualifying mark but not an improvement on the time he set last week in California.

Dayvon Williams won the high jump with a season-best jump of 6-10.75 (2.10m). He now ranks 11th in the country in the event and first in the LSC.

Taylor Briggs won the 400m hurdles (52.73) despite not improving on the season-best he set last week.

Javion Zavala won the 5,000 meters (17:12.98), Caden Glenn took top honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:26.57), and the 4x400m relay team of Tristan Guerrero, Evan Kipley, Clayton Carlin, and Diego Rios finished with a time of 3:21.91 to win the event.

The Rams and Rambelles compete in the LSC Championships in two weeks' time, hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon.
