Richardson, Texas – Angelo State track and field senior Marie Schuler has been named the Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking outing at the ASU Invite last week, the conference announced this afternoon.

Schuler, a senior thrower from Langenfeld, Germany, set the LSC record in the hammer throw last week, doing so with a throw of 201-7 (61.44m).

The Business major's throw breaks the LSC record she set last spring at the conference championship. She ranks fourth in Division II this season in the event.

Schuler is the first female ASU athlete to win a weekly award this season and the sixth from the Rams and Rambelles to earn one during the outdoor season.

The Lone Star Conference championship is scheduled to take place on May 7-9 in Canyon, Texas.
