AUSTIN – The Angelo State 4x400m relay team of
Jahleel Armstrong,
Rami Balti,
Francis Patanpatan, and
William Opare ran the second-fastest time in school history on Friday at the 98
th Annual Clyde Littlefield Relays hosted by the University of Texas as the Rams claimed top honors in the event's preliminary rounds.
The time is the fastest in Division II this season and beats the previous nationwide-best by nearly two seconds.
The Rams will run in the finals tomorrow afternoon.
Dayvon Williams jumped a season-best of 6-9.75 (2.08m), improving on his previously set provisional mark as he claimed victory in the event.
Vanam Sharma finished third in the shot put with a best throw of 55-3.5 (16.85m); the qualifying mark fell just short of his season best.
Ekaterina Fedotova finished seventh in the javelin with a hurl of 142-10 (43.55m); the qualifying mark is not an improvement on her season high.
In yesterday's action,
Marie Schuler's mark of 182-2 (55.54m) in the hammer throw was good enough for a provisional but not an improvement from her season-best mark last week.
Jaime Moreno finished second in the javelin with a throw of 228-5 (69.62m) as the freshman improves on his previously-achieved qualifying mark by over four meters.
Jonathan Wright achieved a provisional in the pole vault, finishing sixth despite not improving on his season best.
Kaylee Price finishes second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.95, as the provisional is a four-tenths improvement on her season best.
The Rams and Rambelles wrap up competition at the Texas Relays tomorrow.
