NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Angelo State track and field teams tallied 27 student-athletes on USTFCCCA's 2026 NCAA Division II All-Academic list, the organization announced.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25, complete at least 24 semester credits at ASU, and have achieved a provisional qualifying mark during the indoor or outdoor seasons.
The Rambelles also earned the Academic Team honor for the 2026 season, maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for all athletes. It is the seventh year in a row the Belles have earned the academic team award.
William Opare was named the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Track Athlete of the Year. Opare, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.67, won both the 200 meters and 400 meters at the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay team. This is the first time that an athlete from Angelo State has been named NCAA DII Mens Outdoor Track and Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year.
