RICHARDSON, Texas – The No. 6 Angelo State University volleyball team earned its second Lone Star Conference weekly honor in as many weeks Tuesday, as setter
Olivia Pena was named LSC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced.
Pena, a kinesiology major, helped guide the Belles to a perfect 2-0 record during LSC Challenge Weekend against West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian. The Prosper, Texas native averaged 5.5 assists per set while adding 10 digs, one kill and one service ace.
The award marks the second consecutive week an Angelo State player has earned an LSC weekly honor, following
Sydney Thornton's selection as the league's Offensive Player of the Week last week.
The Belles will now hit the road to begin Lone Star Conference play, opening against St. Mary's Friday, Sept. 18, in San Antonio before traveling to Austin to face St. Edward's Saturday, Sept. 19.
