Dekarai Pecikonis only got his hands on the ball three times on offense during the Rams’ 31-10 win over Texas A&M-Commerce in the Harvey Martin Classic, but the Angelo State wide receiver turned those three catches into 111 yards and a critical score. For his efforts, he was tabbed the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday. 

The Allen native used a career-long 83-yard touchdown strike from Josh Neiswander in the second quarter to move past 1,000 receiving yards in his 12th game as a Ram. More importantly for Angelo State, the reception snapped the offense out of an early funk and answered Texas A&M-Commerce’s opening field goal. 

Pecikonis caught two more passes in the game while leading the receiving corps with 111 yards. It marked his second-consecutive game with more than 100 yards and fifth time in the sophomore’s career that he’s surpassed the century mark. The former LSC South Freshman of the Year sits at 45 catches for 1,029 yards after the second game of his second season in blue and gold.
