SAN ANGELO, Texas – SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rams men's basketball team held Cameron to 29-percent in the second half but were unable to overcome a 12 point halftime lead falling to the Aggies, 67-64 at Aggie Gym in Lawton, Okla.
The Rams (6-3, 0-1) struggled in the first half shooting 28-percent on 8 of 29 shooting from the field. The Aggies (5-3, 2-1) lead by as much as 15 points in the first half behind 11 points from Miton Garner and Vinicius Telo. Angelo State was led by
Javae King-Gilchrist with nine points at the break.
Angelo State stormed back in the second half shooting 54-percent. The Rams took their first lead since early in the first half at 47-46 at the 11:45 mark of the second half. Angelo State was caught in foul trouble as
Xavier Chargois and
Keenen Coleman both fouled out late in the game.
Reggie Brice scored 16 of his season-high 20 points in the second half to pace the squad. King-Gilchrist (18 points) and
Hanif Nixon-Hughes (10 points) both score double-digit points. The Rams are 3-3 all-time in Lone Star Conference openers under head coach Fred Rike.
The Rams will return to the court on Monday, Dec. 12 at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena to face Midwestern State at 8 p.m.
