SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Rams and No. 13 Rambelles track & field teams will run at the Texas Tech Open this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. in Lubbock at the Athletic Training Center.
The No. 13 Rambelles will have a total of 16 student-athletes competing this weekend. Chrystal Ruiz (60M hurdles, high jump and long jump) and
Kelsey Coffman (pole vault) have both NCAA provisional qualified. The women's 4x400M of Ruiz,
Lexi Brooks,
Theresa Sue and
Jaylen Rodgers ran a 3:52.25 to NCAA provisional qualify as well.
The 4x400M relay is No. 12 in the nation while Ruiz sits in the top 20 in the high jump and long jump. Coffman is ranked No. 18 in the pole vault by cleanred 11'-5.75” (3.50M).
All-LSC cross country runner
Emeline Crutcher will make her season debut in the mile with teammates
Alyssa Priest also entered in the mile.
Annifer Flores and
Katy Williams will run the 3000M.
Jordan Grey and
Cathryn Rittenberry will be working on multiple events as well Ruiz. All three will be working towards a pentathlon and preparing for a heptathlon for the outdoor season.
The Rams will be competing in their first meet of the season. The distance crew and field events will be the main competitors at the Texas Tech Open.
Bryan Barker,
Jamin Goecker and
Robert Hummingbird are all three entered into the 3000M. Barker was an All-LSC cross country runner in the fall.
Nick Alejandro and
Sean Reagan will throw the shot put to open the season and
Austin Slone and transfer
Patrick Hunter will compete in the long jump and triple jump.
