Border Olympics on Tap for Track & Field

The meet will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field team will send nine student-athletes to compete at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on Saturday.

A combination of throwers and vaulters will be heading to Laredo for Saturday's meet. The Rams will be sending Sean Regan and Keaton Hatch while the Rambelles will have Kimberly Williams, Ashlie Francis, Kelsey Coffman, Summer Sutherland, Aimee Denham, Kati Holly and Monica McCafferty.

Hatch threw the javelin 153'-8” (46.84m) at the Trinity Open last week. Regan competed in both the shot put and discus. His best marks were 45'-11.25” (14.00m) in the shot put and 157'-2” (47.91m).

Williams will look to continue her strong start to the outdoor season. The junior threw a NCAA Division II provisional mark of 136'-0” (41.45m) in the javelin. She has season bests of 42'-5.25” (12.93m) in the shot put and 129'-11” (39.61m) in the discus.

Francis has season bests of 36'-1.25” (11.00m) in the shot put, 132'-6” (40.40m) in the discus and 110'-1” (33.55m) in the javelin.

Coffman opened her outdoor season with a vault of 11'-5.75” (3.50m) while teammate Dunham cleared 9'-00.25” (2.75m). Both are entered in the pole vault this weekend.

Holly and McCafferty will both be in the high jump. Holly cleared 5'-5.75” (1.67m) and was able to get over McCafferty 5'-1.75” (1.57m).

The Border Olympics will start at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
