First Round Results
TROPHY CLUB, Texas – Angelo State sophomore
Courtney Rutledge is three strokes from the top of the leaderboard after firing a 4-over-par in the first round of the Firestone Lone Star Conference Championships at the par 72, 5,900-yard course at the Trophy Club Golf Course. The Rambelles are currently in sixth place at the tournament, but are only three shots out of third.
“I am confident,” head coach Kathleen Price said. “I am looking forward to a great day tomorrow and hope that we will continue to trust ourselves. I know that we are capable of picking up some strokes out there.”
Rutledge tied a personal-best 18-hole score that she set in last year's LSC Championships. The Monahans native birdied at her first hole of the day added another birdie at No. 8. On the day Rutledge shot a 37 on the front and back nine.

Courtney Rutledge was back to her old self,” Price said. “Her attitude this past week was one of confidence and she believed in herself today.”
Rutledge was joined in the top 20 by freshman
Abby Bobo. Bobo is tied for 17
th after recording a eight-over 80.
Juniors
Krista Czarnecki,
Taylor Griffin and
Maury McCormick are tied in 23
rd after carding an 82 (+10). Czarnecki and Griffin struggled on the front, but were able to bounce back on the back nine.
The Rambelles as a team did a great job versus par threes on the day. On the No. 4 and 8 holes, ASU was only a shot over par, while on the No. 12 the Belles were three under.
Defending LSC champion, Tarleton State, holds a three stroke lead over Midwestern State after firing a 299 (+11) on the day. The Mustangs' Kendra Whittley shot in red figures with a one-under 71 as she is leading Incarnate Word's Flower Castillo in the individual standings by a single shot.
The second and final round will conclude tomorrow with tee-off scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. McCormick will be the first up for the Rambelles at 8:40 a.m.
