Preseason Camp Central
SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State cross country programs returned to campus on Monday for physicals and to begin training in preparation for the start of the new season slated to begin at the Baylor Invitation on Aug. 31 in Waco.
The Baylor Invitational is one of five in-season meets for the Rams and Rambelles this year who are led by third-year head coach Tom Dibbern. ASU lauched a XC
Preseason Camp Page on Monday to provide video updates leading to the upcoming season.
Both programs were picked to finish in the top five of the Lone Star Conference's preseason poll with the Rambelles and Rams selected in third and fifth place respectively.
The Rambelles return the majority of last year's group including All-Conference and All-Regional performer Emeline Crutcher. The Wellman native was the Belles top runner in every meet last season never falling out of the top ten and was named the LSC's Female Academic Runner of the Year.
Fellow seniors Jessica Boudreau and Kami Orsak also return as well as juniors Sofia Ramos and Katy Williams. Sophomore Annifer Flores rounds out the returning roster for the Rambelles, who finished third at the LSC Championships.
The Rams finished fourth in the LSC Championship meet last season – a four spot jump from last year's preseason predictions – and return four runners led by the lone upperclassmen, senior
Isac Valdez. Sophomores
Tomas Callejas,
Jamin Goecker and
Dylan Littlejohn also look to improve off impressive freshmen campaigns. Freshmen Joshua Day and
Graham Hazlewood will also look to make an impact in their first year.
