ASU Track & Field Recognized by Rep. Mike Conaway

Rep. Mike Conaway publically recognized the Angelo State track & field teams on the House floor in Washington D.C. on Tuesday for winning the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend.  Be sure to check out the video. 



For the first time in Angelo State history both the men's and women's track & field programs won the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field titles. It marks the fifth-straight title for the Rambelles and the first for the Rams since 1992. 

The Rambelles became the first program in ASU history to win five-straight conference crowns in a landslide. The women scored 192 points while West Texas A&M came in second place with 164.33 points. It is the seventh team title for the women in track & field. 

The Rams first title since 1992 came down to the final race of the day. West Texas A&M was ahead by four and a half points going into the 4x400-meter relay. ASU had to win and WT not finish fifth or better.

The relay of Dallas GrayLuis PerezRobbie Thayer and Isidro Garcia won the race with a time of 3:10.45 while West Texas A&M finished in eighth place clinching the title for ASU by two and a half points. It is the 11th conference title for the men overall and breaks a 19-year ACU winning streak.
