Jay Eilers" data-saved-caption="undefined" src="/common/controls/image_handler.aspx?thumb_id=15&image_path=/images/2014/5/29/Eilers_USA_Football.jpg" style="float:right" />SAN ANGELO – Angelo State's Jay Eilers and incoming freshman Derrin Wytaske have been selected to coach and play on the 2014 U.S. Under-19 National Team announced by USA Football.

The U.S. Under-19 National Team will compete in the 2014 International Federation of American Football Under-19 World Championships from July 7-16 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The team will have training camp from June 25 to July 1 in Winchester, Va., and will depart to Kuwait on July 2^nd. The United State will start pool play on Monday, July 7 against Mexico and follow it up with games against Germany on Thursday, July 10 and Japan on Sunday, July 13.
 
Eilers will serve as offensive line coach for the U.S Under-19 National Team. In his two seasons at Angelo State, Eilers guided an offensive line that broke the single season record for yards per game at 457.9 and produced three All-LSC offensive line selections.
 
"I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity to represent the USA, in the great game of football," Eilers said. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and am blessed to represent Angelo State University, during this adventure."
 
Wytaske was an all-district selection last season at Lyndon B. Johnson High as a senior on the offensive line.
 
"We're very proud of this great honor and opportunity for Derrin," ASU head football coach Will Wagner said. "It says a lot about his ability and character to be selected to play for USA football.  Darrin will do an unbelievable job representing Angelo State football."
 
The U.S. Under-19 National Team includes athletes representing 20 states and will compete against teams from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Kuwait and Mexico. The United States won the first IFAF Under-19 World Championship in 2009 while Canada claimed the 2012 gold medal.
