SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State volleyball continues its road tour Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m. with a match-up against the UT – Permian Basin Falcons.
Coming off a pair of wins last Friday in San Antonio, the Belles now sit at 21-5, 8-2 LSC. Having kicked off its season with a match against UTPB with a sweep, ASU will look to repeat the outcome. The Falcons are trying to end a two game losing streak, they currently have a 4-15 overall record and are 2-10 in the Heartland Conference.
Angelo State will continue to look to Brianna Sotello, Abbie Lynn, and Alyssa Orr to solidify their offensive attack. Sotello, the team leader in kills with 336 is averaging an outstanding 3.65 kills per set. She has also made major contributions to the squad's defensive efforts collecting double-digit digs in all but one match in the month of October. This has allowed the sophomore to accumulate a career high 13 double- doubles on the year.
Sophomore Lynn and junior Orr have also stepped up for the Belles in the month of October. Orr fired in an individual and team single match season high 25 kills against StMU last week. Lynn tallied a season high 16 kills against St. Mary's which added to her four match double-digit kill streak.
MacLeay continues to be an anchor for the Belles defense tallying 65 total digs in last week's competition averaging 4.64 digs per set. The senior added three services aces, 17 assist and a .500 clip to her numbers for the week. She currently sits on top of the LSC with 520 total digs and a 5.59 dig per set average on the year. The libero also leads ASU with 19 total service aces and is second on the squad with 89 assists.
Distributing for the Belles, assist leader Keffury once again had another solid week tallying 169 total assists hitting 12.07 per set. The senior contributed 46 total digs at a 3.29 dig per set average to the defensive cause. She also marked two career highs last weekend with 22 digs being tallied against Dallas Baptist and 64 assists coming in the second match of the day against St. Mary's. The total assists allowed the setter to top the 1,000 season assist mark and gain ground on claiming the number six all-time assist spot in the ASU history books.
The Belles will also look to provide some depth to the team with Morgan Seaton and Kelly Hasbrouck. Seaton, who has made a surge in the month of October, boasting an outstanding .341 hitting percentage, while tallying 37 kills averaging 2.64 kills per set last week. She also added eight total blocks to assist the Belles defense efforts for the week. In the dual matches against DBU and StMU, the middle blocker marked double digit kills (16, 12) and sported over a .360 clip in each match. She has now hit double-digit kills in five matches in the month of October.
Hasbrouck is currently second on the team's service ace leader board with 18 on the season. The sophomore contributed to the team's defense last week producing 13 digs against Tarleton State, Dallas Baptist and St. Mary's.
