SAN ANGELO – Angelo State's Kami Norton was named the United States Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week after her performance at the ASU Spring Break Multi meet.

Norton recorded a NCAA Division II leading and NCAA Division II automatic mark of 5,409 points in the heptathlon and added three other NCAA Division II provisional marks during the meet. She is ranked in the top 10 nationally in four events.

She opened the meet with a provisional time of 14.04 in the 100-meter hurdles which is No. 3 in Division II. The junior followed it with a provisional mark of 5'-7" (1.70-meters) in the high jump. The high jump mark sixth best in Division II. She started the second day of the heptathlon in a big way with a long jump of 18'-11.25" (5.77-meters) to move to No. 8 nationally.

Norton and the Rambelles will head to Abilene this Saturday, March 25 for the Wes Kittley Invitational at Abilene Christian.
