SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State men's basketball team closed to within three points after being down 20 with 12 minutes remaining, but could not complete the comeback as they fell to West Texas A&M 89-78
Antonio Singleton led the Rams with 30 points, including 28 in the second half. Singleton shot 10-16 from the field and 7-13 from three point range. He added 11 rebounds and two assists on the evening. Kiair Crouch notched a season high with 18 points and hit three three pointers. He added four assists and two steals. Daron Mims joined them in double figures with 11 points on 4-8 shooting.
The Rams trailed 60-40 with 12 minutes left before embarking on a 22-5 run to draw within three points. Antonio Singleton had a shot to tie and missed, and a Buffs player was fouled on the rebound. He went on to hit two free throws and the Rams never got any closer, with WT hitting their free throws down the stretch.
For the game, the Rams shot 47 percent from the field and 40 percent from three. They will be on the road next week as they travel to UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico.
