No. 21 Rams Travel to Alamosa

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The No. 21 Angelo State University football team steps out of conference action and heads to Alamosa, Colorado, to take on in-region rival Adams State on Saturday, November 2. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. MST.

The Game
Angelo State heads to Alamosa, Colorado, to take on the Adams State University Grizzlies. The two teams meet on the gridiron for the fifth time in school history. The last time these two teams met was in 2018 in San Angelo with the Rams defeating the Grizzlies, 59-20. Payne Sullins threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns on 11 completions. Lawson Ayo led the offense with 116 yards on four receptions.
 
Scouting Adams State
The Grizzlies enter the weekend with a 4-4 record overall and a 4-4 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Adams State played conference opponent Colorado State-Pueblo last weekend and fell 52-12. John Buksa threw for 375 yards and one touchdown. Top receiver, Tariq Bitson, grabbed 11 receptions for 208 yards to lead the offense. Duson Sproles led the charge on the ground with 12 carries for 31 net yards.

National Rankings
Following the victory this past weekend, the Rams move up one spot in the rankings to No. 21. The first regional rankings were also released and the Rams sit in the No. 5 spot. The last time the Blue and Gold were ranked was back in the 2015 season. Angelo State started in the No. 6 spot at the beginning of the season and dropped down to No. 23-25 towards the end of the season.
 
Stout Offense
The Rams offense has been on fire this season, totaling 3,433 yards on 597 plays. Lloyd Howard has been a huge impact on the ground for the Rams, ranking sixth in the conference for all-purpose yards with a 98.4 average. He ranks fifth for rushing yards with 551 and eighth for rushing yards per game with 68.9. Keke Chism ranks third in the conference for receiving yards with 694 and receiving yards per game with 86.8. As a team, the offense ranks second in the conference for scoring, averaging 38.9 points per game.
 
Ram 'Em
The Rams defense leads the conference for passes intercepted and sacks with 13 interceptions and 24 sacks. The defense also leads the conference in scoring. The defense has only allowed 15 touchdowns, one field goal, and 12 extra points for 105 points scored against the Rams. The Blue and Gold defense ranks eighth nationally for scoring defense with a 13.10 scoring average. Nationally, the defense ranks ninth for passes intercepted with 13. The Rams rank second in the conference and 16th nationally for red zone defense with a 0.632 average. Individually, Devin Washington ranks sixth nationally and first in the conference for interceptions per game with 0.6.
